Jenna Barker is excited to start her first year at SPA this year. She teaches Math 6 and Science 8. Originally from California, Jenna graduated from an international high school in Thailand and received her Bachelor of Arts degree at University of Victoria in Victoria, Canada. She then taught English as a foreign language to elementary and middle school students in Japan for four years. Passionate about teaching, Jenna returned to the United States and earned her teaching credential at Saint Mary’s College of California. Last year, she taught Math 7 and Algebra for the Mount Diablo Unified School District and a bit of science at Joaquin Moraga Intermediate School in Moraga, California. She is currently working on her Master of Arts in Teaching at Saint Mary’s College of California. She believes that curiosity is the driving force of knowledge and hopes together we can explore math and science.
When she is not teaching, Jenna enjoys reading novels, watching mysteries, drinking coffee, and spending time with her cat. She can speak Japanese. She loves traveling and participating in cross-cultural activities. Since shelter-in-place, she has found the joy of walking around her neighborhood while listening to audio books and podcasts.
